Head-on crash kills Red Creek man

A 77-year-old Red Creek man died Friday morning after his vehicle crossed the center line and struck another car head-on in the town of Sodus.

Claude E. Krieger was driving east on State Route 104 when his vehicle entered the westbound lane east of the Route 14 intersection, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.


The westbound vehicle was driven by Philip C. Adamy, 70, of Hannibal.

Deputies responded to the crash around 7:03 a.m. and found both vehicles on Route 104.

First responders pronounced Krieger dead at the scene. Adamy was extricated from his vehicle and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with a head injury.

Members of the sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction unit and Investigations Division responded to examine the crash. The cause remains under investigation.

Fire departments from Wallington, Alton, Sodus Center and North Rose assisted at the scene, along with New York State Police and Wayne County EMS.
