The Yates County Sheriff’s Office spent part of the weekend meeting families and handing out child ID kits at Penn Yan Middle School.
Deputies attended the second annual Winter Carnival, hosted by the Penn Yan Rotary Club, and thanked organizers for the invitation.
Members of the sheriff’s office said they enjoyed visiting with families and community groups during the event.
While there, deputies provided Operation Safe Child data sheets and identification cards for 49 children.
Operation Safe Child gives parents a way to keep updated identification information for their children. More information about the program is available through the New York State Sheriffs’ Association at https://nysheriffs.org/operation-safe-child/.
The department also shared a photo from the event featuring Deputy Sheriff Nick Fultz and Correction Officer Ashley Sisson.
Organizers congratulated everyone who attended and thanked the Rotary Club for hosting the winter celebration.
