A Rochester man is facing felony charges after police say he posed as a store employee and walked out of a Macedon Walmart with more than 60 iPhones worth nearly $52,000.
Anthony D. Capers, 32, was arrested following a long-running investigation into a February 2, 2023 larceny at the store, according to the Town of Macedon Police Department.
Police allege Capers impersonated an Outsourced Sales Leader (OSL) employee to gain access to the store’s master keys. Security camera footage reportedly shows him using those keys to unlock a storage container inside the store.
Investigators say Capers selected more than 60 iPhones valued at $51,982 before leaving the store and passing all final points of sale without paying.
Police said they secured and processed evidence as part of the investigation.

On April 2, 2025, a Wayne County Grand Jury returned an indictment and issued a Superior Court warrant for Capers’ arrest.
In the early hours of February 14, 2026, the Elmira Police Department conducted a traffic stop and confirmed Capers was a passenger in the vehicle. Officers took him into custody without incident and turned him over to Macedon police.
Capers was charged with Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a Class C felony; Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree, a Class E felony; and Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Wayne County Court and released.
The Macedon Police Department thanked the New York State Police and the Elmira Police Department for assisting in the case.
A criminal charge is an accusation. Capers is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
