Lyons man charged in welfare fraud case

An investigation into welfare fraud in Lyons has led to criminal charges, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Glenn B. Mattison, 61, of Water Street in the Town of Lyons, and charged him with misuse of food stamps and petit larceny.

Investigators said the case started with the Wayne County Department of Social Services and the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities allege Mattison allowed another person to use his Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program EBT card to buy food without authorization.

Deputies took Mattison to the Wayne County Jail for processing. They later released him with an appearance ticket.

He is scheduled to appear in Lyons Town Court on Feb. 24, 2026. Deputies said the Wayne County Department of Social Services assisted with the investigation.
