Seneca Falls stop leads to drug-impaired driving arrest

A routine traffic stop in Seneca Falls ended with drug-impaired driving charges after officers spotted a vehicle with a lighting violation.

Police arrested Joseph L. Osterhout Jr., 34, of Seneca Falls, during the stop on February 9. Officers noticed the vehicle had no or insufficient plate lamps, according to the Seneca Falls Police Department.

After pulling the vehicle over, officers conducted a roadside investigation. That investigation determined Osterhout was driving while impaired by drugs, police said.

Officers charged Osterhout with driving while impaired by drugs and no or insufficient plate lamps. Police released him with an appearance ticket and traffic tickets.

Osterhout will appear in the Town of Seneca Falls Court on a later date to answer the charges.
