Big budget questions tied to a looming landfill closure stalled a new advisory panel, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The Town of Seneca Town Board voted to table a proposal to form a five-member finance advisory committee as members debated whether outside help is needed. The discussion centers on the planned 2028 closure of the Ontario County Landfill, which currently provides major revenue through a host agreement with Casella Waste Services.
Some officials pushed for transparent, long-term planning before that revenue disappears. Others argued the elected board should handle finances itself. The board agreed to schedule budget workshops instead and revisit the idea later.
