Bills QB Josh Allen undergoes foot surgery, expected to be ready for OTAs

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen appeared at Joe Brady’s introductory press conference Thursday using crutches and wearing a walking boot on his right foot, revealing for the first time that he recently underwent surgery.

After the press conference, Allen explained that he had a procedure Monday to repair a broken bone in his foot, an injury he initially suffered earlier in the season and aggravated during Buffalo’s Week 16 game against the Cleveland Browns. The surgery addressed a fifth-metatarsal avulsion fracture, an injury that typically carries an eight-to-10 week recovery timeline.

Allen described the operation as a “minor” procedure and expressed confidence that it will not impact his offseason availability. He said he expects to be ready for organized team activities and added that, had a game been scheduled this week, he would have found a way to play. “I’m not lying,” Allen said. “If we had a game this week, I’d find a way to play. It wasn’t a crazy surgery.”

Despite the injury, Allen finished the season without missing time, playing the final three games — including two playoff contests — with the broken foot. Over that stretch, he completed 76 of 109 passes for 818 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions, while also rushing 30 times for 126 yards and four scores, further demonstrating his durability.
