After eight months of construction, Newfield’s Town Hall is reopening with major accessibility upgrades, according to Tompkins Weekly.
The roughly $1.35 million renovation adds ADA-compliant bathrooms, a larger public meeting room, and expanded office space at the Main Street building. Town officials say the project fixes long-standing access issues and creates room for community groups and public hearings.
Work began last May and marks the first major upgrade since the building opened in 1977. About $450,000 came from federal ARPA funds, with the remaining cost covered by a bond. Officials plan a public open house soon.
