A routine traffic stop early Sunday morning led to a felony drug arrest in Auburn.
Police identified the front-seat passenger as Amber E. Klein after stopping a vehicle around 3:33 a.m. near North Fulton Street and East Genesee Street for a tail light violation, according to the Auburn Police Department.
Officers learned Klein had an active warrant issued by New York State Police in North Syracuse. They took her into custody and searched her person.
During the search, officers found a plastic bag containing a white powder substance hidden in her waistband, police said.
Investigators transported Klein to Auburn Police headquarters, where the substance was tested and weighed. Police said it tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride, commonly known as powder cocaine, with an aggregate weight of 4.1 grams.
Klein was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a Class C felony.
Police said she was held for arraignment and later released on her own recognizance. She was then turned over to New York State Police on the outstanding warrant.
The incident occurred on January 18.
