Troopers say three people, including a 6-year-old, were ice fishing near Chaumet Point when they went missing. A family member later found one man in the water and tried to help but also broke through the ice before escaping.

Rescue crews later pulled two men from the water unresponsive. Both were pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The child managed to walk for help and was treated for hypothermia.

State police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
