Freshman Caton Ryan scored twice and added two assists as the 10th-ranked Cornell men’s hockey team dominated Alaska, 7-1, on Friday night at Lynah Rink. The Big Red improved to 10-4-0 and extended their home win streak to nine games, remaining perfect at 8-0-0.

Cornell’s balanced attack saw 13 players record points. Junior defenseman Hoyt Stanley had a career-high three assists, freshman defenseman Xavier Veilleux and freshman forward Chase Pirtle each had a goal and an assist, junior forward Jonathan Castagna added two assists, and sophomore defenseman Luke Ashton scored his first goal in a Cornell uniform.
Alaska opened the scoring with a first-period power-play goal from Michael Citara, but Cornell responded with six unanswered goals over the final 40 minutes, including four in the third period. Aiden Long scored the first goal for the Big Red 2:48 into the contest, with Citara tying it on a power play later in the period. Pirtle, Veilleux, and Ashton scored in the second and third periods, while Ryan and captain Ryan Walsh added power-play goals in the third.
Cornell converted three power-play goals, marking their first three-goal man-advantage game since February 4, 2023, and killed off a two-man disadvantage late in the second period. Goaltender Alexis Cournoyer earned his eighth career win in 11 appearances, stopping all but one Alaska shot.
Cornell will conclude the weekend series against Alaska on Saturday, January 10, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. at Lynah Rink.
