Deputies arrested a Penn Yan man after executing a search warrant tied to a joint investigation.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and New York State DEC officers served the warrant at a Route 54A residence at 10:30 a.m. Kristopher Mahan, 44, was arrested at the scene.
Deputies charged Mahan with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and failure to safely store rifles, shotguns, and firearms.
Police transported Mahan to the Yates County Jail for processing. Authorities later released him and directed him to answer the charges in Jerusalem Town Court on a future date.
The sheriff’s office says the arrest followed a joint investigation between Yates County deputies and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Multiple deputies and investigators assisted at the scene.
