New faces and familiar leadership marked Schuyler County’s first official meeting of 2026. Three newly elected legislators joined one incumbent Friday morning during the Legislature’s annual organizational session.
County Judge Matt Hayden swore in returning Legislator Laurence Jaynes along with newcomers Jeffrey Fazzary, Robert Halpin, and Gail M. Walker, all fresh off November wins. Moments later, the body unanimously tapped Carl Blowers to return as chair for another year.
Lawmakers also filled key posts, naming Nicole L. Smith as clerk, Christopher Desrochers as county auditor, Kenneth Thurston as highway superintendent, and Craig R. Bianco as STOP-DWI coordinator through 2026.
