Police arrested a man after officers responding to a suspicious situation heard a woman screaming for help inside a downtown Ithaca apartment.
The suspect, Travis A. Thompson, 27, of Ithaca, was taken into custody on active warrants from Cortland County and Cortland City Court after officers safely removed the woman from the apartment.
The incident happened around 8:38 p.m. on January 1 at 118 East Green Street, according to the Ithaca Police Department.
Officers were investigating a suspicious circumstance inside the building when they heard a female yelling that she was being held against her will and needed help.
Police entered the apartment and safely removed the victim. She did not suffer any injuries.
After securing the victim, officers arrested Thompson on the outstanding warrants. Police said additional charges connected to the incident are pending.
