Two years after a retired jail deputy was killed in a crash, his family is suing for justice, according to RochesterFirst.
Thomas Doherty, 62, died in Walworth in early 2024 when an unlicensed 18-year-old driver ran a stop sign. The teen only received traffic tickets, as prosecutors said there wasn’t enough evidence to file criminal charges.
Now Doherty’s family is suing the driver and vehicle owner, hoping newly reviewed bodycam footage will help their case. They say the legal system failed him — and they won’t stop pushing for accountability.
