New York rolls out wide-ranging laws

From school bathrooms to cash payments, a wave of new state laws will reshape daily life in New York this spring, according to WSYR. Lawmakers approved changes covering courts, housing, health care, worker protections, and public safety.

Starting in March, stores must accept cash, family court appeal deadlines expand, and schools must support students who need diapering assistance. April brings higher housing tax credit funding, new rules for election data, senior health enrollments, and limits on aging stretch limousines.

By May and June, new laws protect veterans from scams, keep child care centers open during staff shortages, expand prison oversight, regulate fashion agencies, and require statewide training on maternal depression.
