Police arrested a Canandaigua man after an investigation involving alleged online contact with students.
Canandaigua police arrested Michael P. Thompson, 27, of Canandaigua on Dec. 17 and charged him with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the department.
Police say Thompson worked as a substitute teacher with the Canandaigua School District at the time of the alleged incidents. Investigators allege that between November and December, Thompson used Snapchat to contact two juvenile students and sent inappropriate messages and photographs.
Officers processed Thompson on the charges and transported him to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment at CAP Court.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are pending. The Canandaigua Police Department asks anyone with information, or parents who believe Thompson communicated with their child through social media, to contact Detective Liberty at 585-337-2107 or email [email protected].
