The Aurora-Ledyard Fire District has approved a resolution to spend up to $125,000 from its capital reserve fund for a new ambulance.
District officials said the purchase would replace their aging 2002 Wheeled Coach ambulance. The new vehicle will include associated equipment and will be acquired through a competitive bid process, with bids requested under Bid 2025-1 dated Dec. 8.
The resolution authorizing the expense was passed by the Board of Fire Commissioners and signed by Secretary Deborah Brooks. The funds will come from the department’s Equipment/Capital Reserve Fund, which was established to finance fire and rescue vehicle purchases for the Aurora-Ledyard Fire District.
Officials noted that the resolution is subject to a permissive referendum, meaning voters could petition to challenge the decision before funds are officially released.
