New York State Police are continuing to investigate a deadly hit-and-run that happened early Saturday morning in Baldwinsville — and say the vehicle involved has now been located.
Troopers were dispatched to Downer Street around 5:50 a.m. on December 7, where they found a woman lying dead in the eastbound driving lane. A passerby made the call but did not witness the incident.
Victim had just left nearby Dunkin Donuts
Investigators say the woman had recently left a nearby Dunkin Donuts around 5:39 a.m. Based on surveillance video and interviews, they believe it took her about two minutes to walk to the area where she was struck. Evidence at the scene suggests she was not dragged any significant distance.
Her name has not been released yet, as police are still working to notify family members.
Vehicle found, driver being interviewed
With help from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and surveillance footage, State Police were able to identify and locate the vehicle believed to be involved. Investigators are currently interviewing the driver. No arrests or charges have been announced.
The case remains active. Troopers are asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash or who may have information to call (315) 366-6000.
