COVID hospitalizations rise as vaccinations lag in NY

New York’s top health official says COVID-19 is sending three times more people to the hospital than the flu — and fewer residents are getting vaccinated, according to State of Politics.

Health Commissioner Dr. Jim McDonald warned that COVID vaccine rates are down 30% from last year, with some counties seeing just 6–10% uptake. Flu shots remain steady, but low overall.

Doctors urge vaccinations before holiday gatherings, stressing that supplements alone won’t prevent illness.
