Conquest man charged with DWI after crash in Auburn

A Conquest man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after deputies say he crashed his car in Auburn and kept driving on a flat tire.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office says 45-year-old Matthew A. Weese was arrested around 12:48 a.m. on November 27 after a deputy saw his vehicle nearly hit two parked cars and a building near the Cayuga County Highway Department on State Street.

Deputies say the vehicle had significant front-end damage and a flat tire, which they later determined came from an earlier incident where Weese drove off the road near North Street and York Street.

Weese, the only person in the vehicle, was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody. According to the sheriff’s office, he refused to provide a chemical sample to determine his blood alcohol level and was arraigned in CAP Court. He is due back in Auburn City Court at a later date.
