Heavy trucks will need to reroute in Canisteo now that the McChesney Road Bridge has a new 25-ton weight limit, according to the Steuben County Department of Public Works.
The change, effective immediately, applies to the span over the Canisteo River between County Route 119 and Matt Dickey Road.
Officials say it’s a safety move to protect the aging structure and are urging drivers to follow posted limits.
