Deputies arrested a man in Mentz after responding to a reported domestic violence call where a computer was smashed and the victim was allegedly choked.
Richard A. Dixon, 57, was arrested on November 22 around 6:27 p.m., less than an hour after deputies arrived at the home. Investigators say Dixon broke a desktop computer and then put his hands around the victim’s neck, applying pressure during an argument.
He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. Both are criminal offenses under New York State law. Dixon was processed at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building and arraigned at the jail. A judge set bail at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond and issued a full stay-away order of protection.
Dixon posted bail the next morning and returned to Mentz Town Court on November 25 at noon.
