Geneva to host festive Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony this weekend

Downtown Geneva is set to sparkle with holiday cheer as the city kicks off the season with its annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 5, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 47 Castle Street.

The family-friendly event will feature live music, festive activities, and a special appearance by Santa Claus, who’s scheduled to arrive on a firetruck at 6 p.m. Children will have the chance to meet Santa and get their picture taken.

A highlight of the evening will be the official lighting of the city’s holiday tree, where one lucky child will be chosen to flip the switch alongside Mayor Valentino.

Carriage rides, provided by Century 21 Steve Davoli Real Estate, will be available throughout the evening from 5 to 8 p.m., adding a nostalgic touch to the celebration. Free hot chocolate and popcorn, courtesy of the Business Improvement District (BID), will help keep guests warm.

The Geneva Police Department will also be on-site hosting a Child ID booth and running its “Fill the Cruiser” Toys for Tots drive, collecting new, unwrapped toys for local children in need.

With twinkling lights, horse-drawn carriage rides, and holiday treats, the evening promises something for everyone.

So bundle up, bring the whole family, and head downtown for a magical start to the holiday season in Geneva.
