Seneca Meadows landfill will become the first in New York to use new tech targeting toxic PFAS chemicals in its wastewater, Finger Lakes Times reports.
The landfill is partnering with Australian firm Water & Carbon Group to install the LEEF System—a foam-based, low-energy method that removes PFAS from leachate before it enters local sewers. The system handles 300,000 gallons daily and avoids chemical use.
Landfill officials say the upgrade is a proactive move to protect the environment, even before regulations require it.
