Tyson to shut beef plant after Trump’s collusion push

Tyson plans to close a major beef plant in Nebraska just weeks after President Trump called out meat giants for price fixing, according to The Wall Street Journal via WSTM.

Earlier this month, Trump ordered the DOJ to investigate what he called “illicit collusion” among top meatpackers, accusing them of driving up beef prices and hurting U.S. ranchers. Tyson — one of the “Big Four” controlling 85% of the market — recently paid $87.5 million to settle a price inflation lawsuit.

Trump also warned about foreign ownership in the industry, saying it threatens the security of America’s food supply and called for urgent antitrust enforcement.
