Two people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a crash at the intersection of Route 89 and Noble Road in Seneca Falls.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 7:30 a.m. after reports of a smoking vehicle and a person with leg injuries. Responders included the Seneca Falls Volunteer Fire Department, the Seneca Falls Police Department, and North Seneca Ambulance.
Fire officials say a vehicle was traveling east on Noble Road when it slid down an icy hill and struck a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck traveling north on Route 89. The collision scattered debris across the roadway, prompting road closures at Cayuga Lake State Park and Lower Lake Road.
Assistant Chief Archer arrived on scene within two minutes and directed ambulances to approach from Noble Road due to the debris. Two male occupants suffered minor injuries and were transported to Geneva General Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance.
Seneca Falls Fire Engine 1 and Rescue 1452 also responded to the crash. Stevers Towing removed the vehicle while crews cleared the road.
Route 89 was reopened after the scene was cleared.
