The Midlakes boys volleyball team continued its impressive run of dominance, sweeping top-seeded School of the Arts, 3-0, to claim the Class B2 Championship on Wednesday night at Canandaigua Academy.
The Screaming Eagles cruised through the first two sets, 25-12 and 25-11, before closing out the match with a 25-20 victory to secure their third straight sectional crown.
Midlakes did not drop a single set during this year’s postseason, sweeping No. 7 Pavilion/York in the quarterfinals and No. 3 World of Inquiry in the semifinals before cruising in the title match.
The victory also marked the program’s 13th sectional title under longtime head coach Kyle Salisbury.
Next up, Midlakes (21-2) will face Class B1 champion Spencerport (17-5) in the New York State Class B regional qualifier on Friday at Finger Lakes Community College, with the first serve set for 6 p.m.
