Deputies responded to a disturbing 911 call in Waterloo on Sunday night after a mother said her boyfriend grabbed her six-year-old daughter by the face.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jason Kahler of Waterloo, was arrested after deputies found the child with facial bruising. According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Kahler allegedly restrained the child and caused the injuries during the encounter. He had left the scene by the time deputies arrived but was found later that night in Seneca Falls and taken into custody without incident.
Kahler was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful imprisonment—both misdemeanors—as well as harassment, a violation. He was taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment in CAP Court.
The incident remains under investigation.
