Ontario County election officials say early voting and mail ballot activity are off to a steady start ahead of the November 4 general election, with nearly 700 ballots already returned and more arriving each day.
As of Friday afternoon, the Ontario County Board of Elections had received 694 completed Early Vote By Mail and Absentee ballots, according to data released October 17. The county has mailed out a total of 2,169 ballots so far, including 294 Early Vote By Mail requests, 1,601 permanent absentee ballots for voters with disabilities, 186 standard absentee ballots, and small numbers of military and overseas ballots.
Ontario County currently reports 79,097 active registered voters. Of those, 29,145 are enrolled as Republicans, 22,964 as Democrats, and 21,673 have no party affiliation. Another 1,605 are registered Conservatives, 245 are with the Working Families Party, and about 3,500 belong to other minor parties.
The Board says registration remains active, with 866 new voters added in the first quarter of 2025, 769 in the second, 846 in the third, and 137 so far this quarter.
Early in-person voting begins Saturday, October 25, and continues through Sunday, November 2, at sites in Canandaigua, Geneva, and Victor. Each site will operate 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and Mondays, noon to 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. On Election Day, November 4, all 44 polling sites in the county will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Voters have until Saturday, October 25, to register or request an Early Vote By Mail or Absentee ballot. Applications can be submitted in person, by mail, or online through the state’s portal at elections.ny.gov/request-ballot.
