Deputies arrest man after suspicious vehicle call in Ira

A 911 call about a man sitting on someone’s lawn led deputies to arrest a Moravia resident for driving while intoxicated.

Deputies say 42-year-old Ryan K. Mikal had been operating a white vehicle before being found on a property along Route 176 in the Town of Ira on the afternoon of October 8. The homeowner reported the car parked in their driveway and the man sitting on their lawn.

Deputies arrived around 2:20 p.m. and identified Mikal. They determined he had been driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested at 2:56 p.m. and taken to the Public Safety Building for processing. Officials say blood alcohol test results are pending.

Mikal was charged with misdemeanor DWI and several traffic violations. He was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Ira Town Court on October 27 at 5 p.m.
