A grassroots rally pushing back against federal overreach is coming to Ovid this weekend — and organizers expect a bigger crowd than last time.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, Indivisible Seneca will hold a peaceful demonstration at the intersection of Routes 96 and 96A/414 from 11 a.m. to noon as part of the national No Kings Day of Action.
The group says the rally is a stand for the rule of law and freedom of speech — values they believe are under threat from federal leaders.
“Our devotion to the principles of our Constitution and the Bill of Rights is the backbone of the freedoms we enjoy, our self-dignity and our standing in the world,” the group said in a statement.
The last No Kings Day event in Ovid, held in June, drew more than 300 demonstrators. Organizers say early registrations suggest even more may attend this weekend.
Indivisible Seneca describes itself as a non-partisan, local grassroots group working to rebuild democracy and protect human rights. More information is available on their website: indivisibleseneca.blogspot.com.
