Jordan-Elbridge parent sues district over racist bullying

A mother and son are suing the Jordan-Elbridge school district, claiming it ignored nearly two years of racist harassment, according to The Citizen. The teen, Trevor Ellingworth, says classmates hurled slurs, mocked his skin, and made whip-cracking gestures — driving him to anxiety and a school transfer.

The family filed the federal lawsuit after repeated complaints under New York’s Dignity for All Students Act allegedly went nowhere. Some students were suspended, but the family argues real protections were never put in place.

They’re seeking damages and policy changes after Trevor left the district for an $18,000-a-year private school. The district is trying to get the case dismissed.
