One of the region’s leading design and engineering firms is making a major leadership move heading into 2026.
MRB Group President and CEO Ryan Colvin announced the company will begin a “steady shift” in senior management starting in January, part of what he called an “evolutionary process” to keep pace with client needs and leadership trends in local communities.
The biggest change: Colvin will step back from the day-to-day role of president while staying on as CEO. Taking over as president will be Trey Taylor, a longtime firm leader who currently serves as Western US Water Resources Engineering Director and Deputy COO.
Colvin said the transition is designed to tap into the unique strengths of MRB’s top talent.
“We want to create opportunities to utilize the strong leadership qualities that originally attracted us to our team members,” he said.
Taylor earns top role after success out west
Colvin said Taylor was selected for his hands-on leadership style and deep connection with both clients and team members. He has led projects in communities of all sizes, and his management of the firm’s Southwestern operations earned praise.
“Trey’s management style reflects his deeper understanding of every aspect of our relationships with clients,” Colvin said. “That has earned him the respect of each member of our team.”
Taylor, who is based in Central Texas, said he plans to stay closely involved with offices across the country.
“It’s an honor to have earned the trust of such an exemplary team of professionals,” Taylor said. “I look forward to continuing to earn that trust as President.”
Long-term vision for client service
Colvin said the leadership changes will allow MRB Group to remain client-focused as both public and private institutions evolve. He pointed to a generational shift happening among municipal leaders and said MRB is aligning with that change.
“As communities adapt to a changing world, MRB Group is evolving right along with them,” he said.
Both Colvin and Taylor will work together in the coming years to guide the firm through this transition.
MRB Group, which offers engineering, architecture, and municipal consulting services, has offices across the northeast, southeast, and southwest U.S. The firm serves local governments and community institutions in sectors like healthcare and education.
