Freeville officials are reminding residents that all door-to-door solicitors must now have a village-issued permit, according to The Tompkins Weekly.
The updated law, passed in 2024, requires commercial solicitors to apply and pay up to $900 depending on duration. Violators face fines and limits on future activity. Residents and nonprofits are exempt but must provide ID before canvassing.
“No Solicitation” stickers are available for free, and officials urge residents to report unpermitted visits directly to Village Hall.
