Fire chief slams botched cat rescue attempt

A cat stuck in a tree was euthanized the day after a failed rescue by the Spencerport Fire District — and now the fire chief is condemning his team’s response, according to WHAM.

Chief Jake Bromage said the tactics used were “not appropriate” and “fell short” of community standards, though he didn’t say what exactly happened or if anyone is being disciplined. The department is now revising its rescue guidelines.

The cat’s owners had called 911 Friday evening. What followed left the pet dead and residents demanding answers.
