Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is blasting Governor Kathy Hochul over what she calls a “bombshell” revelation — that New York State has issued commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) to undocumented immigrants, including some reportedly labeled as “No Name Given.”
In a sharply worded statement Tuesday, Stefanik accused Hochul of endangering public safety and prioritizing “illegals and criminals” over law-abiding citizens.
CDL licenses issued under Green Light Law
Stefanik claims that Hochul’s administration, under the Green Light Law, is allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain CDLs — licenses that permit the operation of large commercial vehicles. She pointed to a recent ICE operation where several undocumented individuals with New York CDLs were allegedly apprehended driving commercial trucks across state lines.
“This is exactly the danger that happens when Far Left Democrats like Kathy Hochul turn their states into sanctuary havens for illegals,” Stefanik said.
Criticism of policy shift
The Congresswoman also took aim at what she called Hochul’s reversal on the issue, referencing the governor’s earlier stance as Erie County Clerk when she opposed driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants.
Hochul’s office has not yet responded to the allegations in Stefanik’s statement.
Stefanik’s criticism follows recent reporting from Oklahoma officials who say individuals with New York-issued CDLs were caught in a targeted law enforcement operation. The CDLs in question were reportedly tied to license applications where the name was left blank or listed as “No Name Given.”
