A 27-year-old Geneva man is facing DWI charges after Penn Yan Police found him asleep behind the wheel of a running car in a municipal lot.
Police were called to the scene after a report of a suspicious vehicle with the driver’s side door open and the engine still running. When officers arrived, they found Jacob J. Diehm asleep in the driver’s seat with the headlights on. According to police, Diehm had also vomited and defecated on the pavement next to the car.
Officers said Diehm showed multiple signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody and brought to the Yates County Jail, where a breath test showed his BAC was .12%.
Diehm was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a BAC of .08% or greater, and disorderly conduct. He was later released with tickets to appear in Penn Yan Village Court.
