Environmental advocate John Dennis dropped out of the Tompkins County Legislature race, backing incumbent Deborah Dawson’s surprise write-in campaign, according to The Ithaca Voice.
Dennis, who won the Democratic primary for District 7, cited family health concerns and Dawson’s experience. Her late re-entry means Dennis’ name will remain on the ballot, creating confusion. Voters must write in Dawson’s name to support her.
A third candidate, Joshua Jahani, is also running a write-in campaign.
