An animal control officer in southern Seneca County says she’s overwhelmed with stray dogs and has nowhere to put them, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
April Moore told county leaders the local shelter is always full and won’t take abuse cases. She’s pushing to build a small, nonprofit facility — not a full shelter — where dogs can stay temporarily. Several supervisors voiced support and pledged to explore options with her.
Moore says she’s rescued 52 dogs in a year, but warns many are simply abandoned. “Some owners don’t come back.”
