A controversial 74-unit housing project in downtown Geneva is officially off the table, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Lakeview Health Services pulled the plug after months of pushback at public hearings. The plan, which included affordable units and housing for people with mental health conditions, faced zoning hurdles and community resistance. Critics argued over location and impact — but Lakeview says much of the opposition was rooted in stigma and misinformation.
The nonprofit now plans to pursue a similar project at a different, more welcoming site.
