Nearly 400 Wayne County students experienced homelessness last school year, prompting expanded support from Family Promise, according to RochesterFirst.com.
The nonprofit’s “Roof Over Their Heads” program is now being offered directly in local schools to keep students housed and connected to their communities. Districts refer families and fund the support, which includes case management and stability planning.
So far, Newark, Wayne, and Williamson districts have signed on. Family Promise is also seeking volunteers and will host a fundraiser on Oct. 11.
