Watkins Glen school leaders just took the first step toward a possible district merger with Bradford, according to a Sept. 22 report from The Odessa File.
The school board authorized Superintendent Kai D’Alleva to begin formal talks, citing falling enrollment and the lure of $50 million in state incentives over 15 years. D’Alleva said the main goal is preserving student programs while easing local costs.
The process could take years and would require studies, board approvals, and public votes. Watkins plans to keep its shared sports teams with Odessa-Montour, even if the Bradford merger moves forward.
