Canandaigua man charged with DWI after car hits deer

Deputies arrested a man early Saturday after responding to a car-deer crash in Hopewell.

Kyle P. Johnston, 24, of Canandaigua, was charged with driving while intoxicated following a roadside investigation on Freshour Road, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.


Deputies arrived around 1:24 a.m. on September 13 after Johnston reported hitting a deer. During the investigation, they determined he had been driving while intoxicated.

He was arrested and taken to the Ontario County Jail. Johnston was issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
