Two Seneca Falls police officers say the town enrolled them in the wrong retirement system—and it may cost $500,000 to fix, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Lt. Tom Cleere and Sgt. Bethany Kidd discovered they’re in a plan that delays retirement well past the 20-year mark allowed for public safety officers.
Cleere claims town officials promised help, then backed out, leaving most of the board uninformed. One board member supports immediate action; others haven’t commented. The town supervisor says they’re still reviewing the cost.
A former scoutmaster of Cleere urged the board to act, saying the issue impacts both morale and public safety.
