A $27.6 million project bringing 56 affordable senior apartments and a daycare to downtown Ithaca just got the green light, according to the Tompkins Weekly.
The five-story building, led by Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services, will rise on West State Street and include rainbow murals to signal LGBTQ+ inclusivity. Six units will rent for just $540 a month. The site will also offer 36 daycare spots, rooftop balconies, and eco-friendly Passive House construction.
Construction could begin in late 2026—pending tax credit approvals—and aims to help ease Ithaca’s long waitlist for senior housing.
