The New York Mets finally showed some fire in the seventh inning of Sunday’s matchup after being shut out through the first six frames.
Frustration surfaced when Miami Marlins starter Sandy Alcántara clipped Mark Vientos with a 90 mph changeup, sparking a heated exchange.
Vientos and Alcántara locked eyes and traded words as home plate umpire Austin Jones stepped in. Alcántara, visibly animated, had to be restrained while Vientos made his slow walk toward first base. Moments later, both benches and bullpens emptied, creating a tense scene around the mound.
No punches were thrown, and the game eventually resumed without further incident.
