After more than four decades in the retail industry — and 32 years leading Eastview Mall — General Manager Mike Kauffman is retiring.
Kauffman’s last day was marked with heartfelt congratulations from staff, shoppers, and storeowners who’ve come to know him as the steady hand behind one of Western New York’s most successful shopping centers.
He first took the reins at Eastview in 1993 and has since overseen two major expansions, seven department store additions, and countless upgrades and renovations. Whether managing remodels or solving day-to-day issues, Kauffman built a reputation for keeping Eastview running smoothly — and with a smile.
Born and raised locally, Kauffman spent part of his career moving around the country before settling in Fairport. He’s been a familiar face at Eastview ever since — walking the mall, greeting customers, and working closely with community leaders and volunteers.
The team behind Eastview described Kauffman as a positive force who helped shape the mall into the regional destination it is today.
“Mike has made Eastview the exceptional destination that everyone knows and loves,” the mall said in a statement. “Retailers, shoppers, and staff are all so thankful for Mike and his time here.”
