Middle schoolers in Canandaigua are helping monitor lake water quality using professional-grade tech, thanks to a summer camp hosted by the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association, according to the Democrat and Chronicle.
Campers used a $10,000 YSI Pro DSS Probe to gather data on pollutants like nitrates and chloride. The initiative, funded by Rotary and Xylem donations, gives kids hands-on science experience while aiding harmful algal bloom research.
Organizers hope it sparks future environmental careers—and cleaner water for all.
