Schenectady man admits to drug and gun conspiracy

A Schenectady man has pleaded guilty to leading a major drug and firearm trafficking ring that spanned across the Capital Region.

Federal prosecutors say 33-year-old Jabree Jones, also known as “Breezy,” admitted to distributing fentanyl, meth, and cocaine—and to conspiring to traffic at least 39 illegal guns, including a machinegun.

Jones pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to charges stemming from a months-long investigation. Between January and May 2023, agents say Jones and his co-conspirators moved large quantities of drugs and firearms through multiple properties in Albany, Halfmoon, and Clifton Park.

Authorities seized thousands of grams of illegal pills and dozens of weapons—including defaced firearms and machineguns—during raids on May 23, 2023. That day, one suspect, Anthony Zaremski, opened fire on officers during a search in Clifton Park. He was shot and killed after wounding two agents.

Jones now faces at least 15 years and up to life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for December 19 before U.S. District Judge Anne M. Nardacci.

Other defendants already sentenced

Several co-conspirators in the case have already been sentenced:

  • Anthony Luizzi got 210 months in prison and a $10,000 fine for drug and firearm trafficking.
  • Brandon Bartley was sentenced to 180 months and fined $5,000.
  • Devon Newsome received 60 months for transferring 29 guns to Jones.
